Colby Blackwell Bio

I am Colby Blackwell, an 18 year old from Birmingham, Alabama. I began fishing years ago but really found my passion when I discovered kayak fishing. I became known on social media for my tandem kayak fishing, as that’s where I really started in my younger teenage years. Since then, I’ve grown into my own kayak and have reeled in some incredible fish on my kayak…
- • A 250lb Blue Marlin 100+ miles offshore of Golfito, Costa Rica.
- • A 106lb Swordfish far offshore Islamorada in the Florida Keys.
- • A beautiful sailfish right off the coast of Boynton Beach, Florida.
- • A world record sized 52” Cubera Snapper while fishing in Los Buzos, Panama.
- • AND, A world record sized 50” Broomtail Grouper while fishing in Los Buzos, Panama.
I’ve fished all over the world, including the Florida Keys, Bahamas, Belize, Panama, Costa Rica, and many other top destinations in the United States. I have been featured in fishing magazines for BIG catches on a kayak like catching a 180 lb. yellowfin tuna, another for landing a blue marlin from my kayak in Costa Rica, and most recently two magazine features for my swordfish catch on kayak in the Florida Keys.
I think the best is yet to come… that’s one of the beauties of sport fishing. You just never know what you’re going to hook into and when you’re going to be battling the fish of a lifetime.
Welcome to my website! I’ll be sharing everything here but to stay connected and get a first look, follow me on my Instagram, Facebook, & YouTube accounts.
Last but not least, I am fortunate to have supportive parents who facilitate the growth of my passions and have instilled the value of hard work and education in me. I’m attending Auburn University in the fall of 2021 to pursue a degree in business and/or marine biology. My goal is to combine my passions with a career and find my dream job along the way. One thing I’ve learned from fishing is, be patient, be in the moment, and be ready anything — I think it applies well to everyday life too.
