Kayak SHIELD vs Swordfish | Tandem Kayak Demo
Kayak fishing and tandem kayak fishing are already a bit more involved vs casting out from a boat, bank, or pier. They’re also some of the most rewarding types of fishing, in my opinion. For our adventure last year to the Florida Keys, we had the bold goal of catching a swordfish on a kayak. Leading up to the trip, we felt it was best to design something that could protect myself and another kayak angler in case a swordfish went rogue and exploded out of the water towards us. β¬οΈ
The Kayak Shield was born! This home project turned out to be a ton of fun and we ended up making some improvements on our tandem kayak all around. When watching this video, keep in mind most of the footage was shot last year in prep for our swordfishing trip with Captain Nick Stanczyk. How is it important now..? We’re heading down to the Keys again tomorrow to go after a swordfish on kayak againβΌοΈ
This is the redemption tour. Last year, the 8lb weight we dropped down made it incredibly hard to reel up. Once hooked up, we got the fish close to the surface but the line broke once we got to the leader. We learned a ton from this experience last year and now it’s our time to make it happen! Fingers crossed and I’m hoping this day on the water turns into my best birthday yet!! π
